Beautifully made French market basket!!
Excellent market basket that is big enough for essentials at the shop. It is both sturdy, and stylish…love this basket as it has an additional cross over strap to secure your items inside. The basket is very well made, and comfortable to carry. Thank you.
This is my fourth market basket that I have purchased in the last ten years or so. I love them for groceries, produce from the farmers’ market and for beach trips. This is the most beautifully made basket I have ever purchased and I am in love. I will never buy from another seller and can not praise this seller enough. The basket arrived well packed and in an ideal box that did not change its shape. The leather is strong and placed perfectly on the basket and the shape of the basket is that of a classic Moroccan market basket. Other styles are available and very attractive. Don’t hesitate–BUY!!!
Love this large size. Made well and not heavy or difficult to carry. Holds lots. Useful for day out or general shopping
I bought this for my daughter as she had admired the two bags her sister had. The bag is of good quality and is really attractive. It holds a good amount of shopping and is a really stylish bag. As two have been purchased in the past we know they are strong and for purpose as well as looking lovely.
I will be buying myself one !

Great holiday bag with nice long handles
Great straw bag, held loads and used on plane as well as for beach. Nice long handles to go over shoulder and shorter ones for when it was loaded up!
This is a super strong big bag; unlike cheaper ones available. It easily fits a picnic with blanket or everything you need for a day out at the beach. Would highly recommend.
Really nice basket. Well made, good size and very handy to have two sizes of handle. The subtle colour variations of the straw are also lovely and it has a good, solid flat base. Definitely recommend.
Pricey for what it is, straps look a little worn to me but maybe that’s how it supposed to look? Some very rough edges, would expect it to be more ‘polished’ for the price.
I’m a bit disappointed that it’s not to sturdy… it looks like it’s not going to last very long.

Fits buckets, spaces, towels, snacks, wine. Everything for an afternoon on the beach with multiple children! The best part? The sand filters through, so you don’t end up with piles of sand at the bottom.
This is a great throw it all in basket bag with excellent double handle usage. Just what I wanted for summer and a fantastic price too

I really liked the look and size of this basket. I was not disappointed when it arrived well packaged. The handles are soft and it is not too big (Olivia is next size up) as I didn’t want to carry it on my shoulder. I can carry over the crook of my arm or just in my hand and it does not drag on the ground. Anything bigger would have- sonI was careful to choose the smaller option but still big enough for small amounts of shopping or nice size for a day out.
Exactly the style I wanted. It’s not quite as large as the one it replaces, which is now falling to bits from use, but very stylish and still does the job.

Sought out the seller after an influencer I follow advocated the larger french shopper. At 5’2″ the shopper bag would have swamped me but this is just perfect, Really good quality, with leather straps long enough to go on the shoulder over a jumper. Feels strong though I am unlikely to use for anything really heavy. Would be great for keeping my embroidery but want to take it out and about. 🙂

Gorgeous authentic and stylish basket
Lovely basket, very good quality & exactly what I was looking for. It is sld as second, however I cannot identify any imperfection. Excellent price as well (due to being sold as a second). Size is good – more than adequate for beach day or shopping trip, without being unwieldy. Highly recommend this classic and authentic item.
Great everyday basket and not too big! Good quality and will get lots of use out of it. Have also ordered the the bigger Joanna basket as well.
Bag seems smaller than in the pictures. Handles could be a touch longer for comfort when on shoulder. Nice look overall and so far seems good value. Just wish it was ever so slightly bigger.

I made a mistake and gave a bad review for this instead of an item from another seller that did not arrive at all. I am very sorry. This is my review for this product which is brilliant.
The bag arrived early and brought a bit of the feeling of the French market with it. It is beautifully made and strong. It is more of a large handbag or small tote size but I got two loaves, a two litre milk bottle and half a kilo of cheese into it yesterday. Just right for local or market shopping or a picnic.

This basket bag seems quite sturdy and is really well made. I like the size which is just right for everyday use. The handles are a great length for carrying on my shoulder or the crook of my arm, I am a plus size lady so this was an important thing for me. I would recommend this bag to friends and family.
I am very happy with this basket. I have used it to go to the market for fruit and bread.

Bought in 2017 – still going strong , stitching intact , leather handles secure and comfortable – used every summer for beach days and holidays and gets very overloaded . Strong comfortable basket

This was a replacement for one I have had for many years that sadly the straw had started to split due to long term use. It had seen many holidays and shopping days. I had been searching last few years, but not found what I was looking for. I have been using since it arrived as I prefer the choice of both straps .
Nothing bad to say , infact this seems to have been stitched better through the leather straps .
Really like this. Great for trips to the store for odds and sods ie nothing too heavy as I would like it to last. Also farmers market where no bags. No doubt will find other uses.

Brilliant sized bag that is perfect for my shopping needs without being so big and heavy I can’t carry it. The bag itself is very well made and I’m extremely happy with my purchase.
Just a side note – I actually ordered the bigger sized one first and returned it after I saw this one. The service was fantastic. If I needed to, I would definitely order from this seller again.
An absolute staple in my wardrobe
I love this basket! I no longer use any of my handbags, I just am the basket lady now!
It has a generous size and I wear it like a tote, I can have all my shopping in it and also and it just works for me.
To me it is very stylish and the quality is good and the handles are sturdy.

The basket it very nicely made. It doesn’t really look like the photo. It is much wider and less deep and the handles are longer than I thought they would be, but I’m happy with it and looking forward to using it at the farmers market next week. I saw some reviews saying the handles were too short to put over your shoulder – that is not the case with mine.
Lovely big bag, perfect for kids’ water bottles, their colouring bits, cardigans and snacks plus a few bits of shopping while still looking stylish and non like a mum bag of all the kids’ junk!
Ideal size for me at 5ft 10 – comes to about hip level but might be on the large size for anyone particularly petite.
Much nicer than any I have seen on the high street.
I really love this bag, it’s great for using as a baby bag, picnics etc. The perfect size not to large. The handles are lovely and soft. Great value for money, will deffernetly be purchasing another style
Lovely basket and I’m very pleased with it. A good size, packaged well and delivery excellent. If I had to say one thing it would be that I thought it may be a bit stronger. It feels quite light and initially I’m a little concerned regarding what weight it can carry. I won’t be filling it with heavy stuff anyway. Have seen others that appear very strong but a lot more expensive so I guess as this one wasn’t expensive you get what you pay for. Still love it and time will tell.

This was a great buy! It is well made, large and sturdy. I had been looking for a traditional French grocery bag in Quebec where I live for some time now…ever so pleased to have found this gem. I have used it to go fruit and veggie shopping as well as for canned goods. I have gotten questions about it and people have asked me where I got it. Le Papillon Vert has great service and so would not hesitate to order from them again through Amazon.
Well made and I love it but it is more suited as a beach bag. I love a big bag but this feels a bit big even for me. Should have paid more attention to the description and reviews!
Slightly smaller than I expected. I’ve bought about 6 of these over the years – and they get a lot of abuse! This one is just a tiny bit small for my everyday carting needs but I’ll use it anyway.
Very good sized shopping bag/basket. Haven’t used it much as yet – do have slight suspicion it might not be as durable as some similar I’ve had before, eg some of the weaving is a little “ragged” in parts. Also, do feel that despite its size it might not be as strong as I had hoped for. Previous similar products, however, have given excellent service.
This is a lovely straw carry bag – bought to replace one that had finally fallen to bits after years of use. Le Papillon Vert is quite big but not too big. Well made with nice faux leather handles. Price is reasonable too compared to some outrageous offerings out there.

Thrilled with this basket.. arrived on time, is the perfect size and was just what I wanted..So much so that I’m ordering another one for my daughter for Christmas!

This is a great buy ,came on time and was bigger then I thought which was a bonus as can get more shopping in and as I am under 5ft the Basket dose not hit the ground as with longer shopping bag handles and where with the old shopping Basket that would rub your hands this has lovely cumfy soft leather handles,it also looks very stylish ,yes to say I am over the moon with it is an understatement,would make a great Christmas Gift.

It’s O.K. It is much to big to carry around just when you pop out for a quick shop or putting it in on the bike. Nice but if I had a chance to see it before – I wouldn’t have bought it. Good quality though. Good handles.
This is a present for my Sister who had always admired my own basket, It is beautiful it smells of hay and french air. It has soft leather handles which are firmly attached to the hand worked body of the basket. It is soft and pliable and will hold everything you could think of if you were taking this to the beach or all you lovely goodies for a (huge) picnic in the country (including 2 or 3 bottles of fizz as well as a softer option for the children) plus food and the essential waterproof blanket. I love the colour and if this is anything like my own basket which has seen much service will age with style. It arrived safely and speedily in a huge box a perfect transaction without problems. Go on join the revolution get a basket and save the earth and look chic at the same time . One thing if you have petit hands perhaps the longer shoulder straps would be an idea as the more you put into the basket the wider it gets, I have quite long fingers and I admit I do over load sometimes, and the handles get wider apart not to mention heavier so the shoulder straps would help with the weight.
In France everyone in the supermarket or the market place has one of these lovely baskets, they are so very practical and also gorgeous! You can fit an enormous amount of shopping into one of these and the basket and handles are sturdy enough to take quite a weight. I don’t understand why we don’t all have them here as they are so practical and environmentally friendly. At every check-out I get comments about my lovely basket… I wouldn’t be surprised if they became the next big fashion accessory!
